standing in the shadow of a st bernard
knowing things are mind over matter
somehow allowing friendship to forge
simple minds of simple animals teach
man or beast, large or small, it can be
Some shadows can be overcome. 🙂
this reminds me of our dog, she lived with us until she was 13 and died coz of illness, i dearly miss him…
thanks for this lovely poem
happy new year jaymie
I hope all is well with you…wishing you a wonderful year. One of our dogs, Tazmin, died last year – we miss him too.
Funny how friendships form…in the most variety of places and shapes…made me smile…
They are fun to watch play. Leroy, the terrier, can actually beat the saint at tug of war. 🙂
mentioning friendship, I am wondering if we can call each other blogging friend, I love your poems very much and included your link so that my readers could come and enjoy your poem to expand more friendships among poets alike…
Let me know if you don’t want it.
Thank you and have a remarkable day.
Thank you J – and I am honored that you gave me a shout out. I have added you to my blogroll. Also, check your email…sent you a note.

A lovely tribute to the furry friends in our lives. 🙂
I miss mine too.
So cute & sweet.
They are adorable to watch.
The friendship and bond we develope with those ‘beasts’ is probably the purest there is.
Good one Jaymie!
Thank you Steve. They really do add another wonderful layer!
jaymie, i’ve watched the friendship between my various beasts blossom and grow, too. the kicker is, it really is so simple as they make it. we humans are missing out on so much by making it complicated. your beasts are so adorable!
Thank you, they are fun!
I am a huge dog-lover…
“The more people I meet… the more I like my dog”.
(~quote from Sam’s Dad (LOL ;))
There can be truth to that, lol.
we’ve much to learn from these wonderful creatures, don’t we? it can be…be…be…
they must be sans ego…they figure it out faster. 😉
Oh yes, simple things can teach us so much – of invaluable stuff such as friendship! You say it so well.
It is easy to forget sometimes that most things are simple.
