life is birthing poets
from uncanny places
carts with broken wheels
birds without a melody
dolls with teased hair
and missing clothes
paper castles set on fire
but with each word
they tighten a bolt
discoverย a new song
and comb things out
putting patches to holes
setting mortar to brick
to home and hearth
life is birthing poets

awesome analogies Jaymie, truly “with each word” we reach into chaos and pull out a tiny piece of order, harmony, and life.

It is a beautiful way to see the world, yes?

If I may ask who’s your inspiration behind writing such amazing peoms ? Outstanding use of words.. ! ๐
December 10th, 2009 at 8:07 am
I think you asked me this before and I don’t really have a good answer. Sometimes I awake with words spilling out, sometimes I’m curious about something new to me and the poem comes out of research, I think mostly it is my day to day thoughts. ๐ Everyone is my inspiration?

You find such elegant ways to portray the simple concepts of life with impact. I stand once more in awe of your skill, Jaymie. Brilliant imagery and analogies.

You have a pretty poetic post going on yourself today Darc. ๐

Well, when those words “spill out,” they do with such intensity and style that I just sit there and am amazed!I wish I was soooo good! Thank you for your visions! ๐

It’s always experience that teaches us, no? They lead us to wonder, to think, to explore – and to write it down so we don’t forget the lessons. Great job on this. ๐
December 10th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
It’s usually experience, yes. ๐

Some of us are better at finding the poet inside than others…you’re very good at finding the poetry in everything.

Maybe it is what I hear instead of music since I cannot carry a tune? ๐ Thank you D.

Jamie you remain one of my all time favorite poets. Your work touches somewhere deep and leaves a mark. As always looking forward to reading more of your pieces in the future.

Thank you Flow. Seems like I am suffering a seasonal slow down, lol.

I really enjoy the photo montage of this poem. It’s a great reflection of humanity. And yes, life indeed does birth poets. Well done!

Thank you Randall. It’s a process.

Jaymie, your imagery is, as always, lovely. I feel like I just had a poetry birth, and so many others are telling me the same. I’ve had all sorts of “therapy” and I’m finding poetry is one of the best!
I have written a poem in a few days, and wondering why I haven’t felt one in my heart. Actually, it has been a very stressful past few days. Hopefully will feel the inspiration soon.

I agree – best therapy I have found, it has even helped with my insomnia. Don’t force the muse, she’s on her own schedule. Hoping everything is okay. I’ve been crazy busy and feel sort of itchy with the slow down in my own writing. Thoughts are there…just not enough free time to get them down before they dissolve. I guess it is the time of year. Blessings to you Julie, hang in.

I haven’t written a poem, I mean.

Got it. ๐
December 20th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
Well, I took a long nap today and wrote the words that spilled out afterward & put them on my blog. They aren’t particularly inspired, or don’t feel like “good poems” but they are what they are. Just felt happy to write.

I’m hoping to make the rounds today to catch up. ๐
