funneled together
on an edge of earth
falling into step
to the drum of the river
holding court in the center
heads looking skyward
for redemption in
the repose
of a beclouded day

This is beautiful, Jaymie. What a perfect poem for this little town nestled in deep. I would love it there! 🙂 Keep the updates coming!

It was overcast the entire time we were there so the colors don’t look as brilliant as they normally would. We might go back later in the summer when all the flowers are blooming. It was still early in the season for that altitude. Anyway, the town is surrounded by steep mountains and a couple of waterfalls. Like most mountain towns, it started out as a mining town. One of its claims to fame is the Alfred Packard massacre. I highly recommend putting it on your list of places to see!

Ohh..waterfalls too? It sounds so amazing. I’ve never been out west, except for a brief visit to Seattle, which I loved. Mountains are so magical…
