A Kingdom
November 1, 2009

in the land of socks
there lives a king
that dreams of dryers
and all they bring
the kingdom grows
by leaps and bounds
while naked feet
fall on the ground
but like the crown
upon his head
burdens heavy
filled with dread
for some of them
do arrive alone
looking frayed and
far from home
sees their sadness
no longer a pair
a sovereign heart
out to heal despair
dreaming of dryers
all that they bring
in the land of socks
there lives a king

It was a sock puppet extravaganza when my friend’s high school daughter came to visit last year.

Love this, J! One word–MINIONS!

My socks for a kingdom, LOL. Consequently, minions kept running through my head. Extremely busy in there.

I did make that king.
He is from an impromptu sock puppet making party we had last year.

how did you know I sat last night after finishing all laundry and had 3 staring back at me…alone..without a match…
gonna have to have a talk w/ that king…smiles
November 2, 2009 at 9:11 am
He’s trying to find them passage back – I just know he is because he is that kind of king.
November 2, 2009 at 9:17 am
This sooooo reminded me of The Dreadbeats, singing We Three Kings – pretty sure this was the lead singer

This is completely awesome!! Made my day!
November 2, 2009 at 4:40 pm
I love the little sock! It’s adorable! You know, I have often suspected that the clothes pile silently multiplies when I’m not looking…but for some reason, no matter how big it gets, the socks can never find a mate! It’s one of life’s greatest mysteries…
November 2, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Poor mateless socks!
November 2, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Strangely enough, we actually broke out the sock puppets earlier this evening to amuse our mini-king.
November 2, 2009 at 11:29 pm
It is just a sock puppet kind of day.

November 3, 2009 at 7:40 pm
No intrusion at all – glad you enjoyed it. Did you get a chance to see the video someone linked to above? Fun times!
